Kristin Chenowith

Kristin Chenoweth is one of Broken Arrow’s most famous exports.  She was born and raised in Broken Arrow and spent her formative years acting in school plays and singing at various functions . After graduating from Broken Arrow Senior High School, she went to Oklahoma City University where she got a BFA in musical theater and a MFA in opera performance.

After college, she headed for the bright lights of New York City and began to perform in both regional theater, off-Broadway and on Broadway.  In 1999 she performed in a revival of You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown as Sally Brown which landed her a Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical. She later went on to perform what is arguably her most famous theater role of Glinda the Good Witch in Wicked for which she was nominated for a Tony.

Also, during this time, she began appearing in movies and on TV. She had roles in such films as Running With Scissors, Bewitched, Four Christmases and Pink Panther and has had roles in such television shows as Frazier, The West Wing, Pushing Daisies, which won her an Emmy award and most recently, an Emmy award nominated role on the hit show Glee.  She has also managed to find time to record 4 albums.

We are proud to call Kristin Chenoweth one of our own.

Glinda from Wicked, Olive from Pushing Daisies and Cunogande from Candide are my top three but I’ve liked her in all of her roles.
